Zelensky and Biden visit in Washington, DC, amid Russia’s war in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet US President Joe Biden and lawmakers on Capitol Hill during a visit to Washington, DC. The visit was arranged to coincide with Zelensky’s trip to Argentina for the inauguration of President Javier Milei. The Ukrainian leader will discuss “further defense cooperation” with the US president, including joint projects to produce weapons and air-defense systems, and will also focus on “securing unity among the US, Europe, and the rest of the world” in their support of Ukraine against Russia. The meeting comes at a critical time when aid for the war-torn country remains stalled on Capitol Hill.
