Atlanta police arrested a woman who attempted to burn down the birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The 26-year-old suspect was caught pouring gasoline on the property by two tourists from Utah, whose intervention was praised by Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum for saving an “important part of American history.” The King Center thanked the Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta Fire Department, the National Parks Service, and Mayor Andre Dickens for their quick response. As the house is federal property, the woman may face federal charges.
