Winter storm warnings and watches: potential for significant snowfall followed by cold

Snowfall continues along the North Shore, with more expected for southern Minnesota from late Thursday and into the weekend, followed by bitter cold. Temperatures have dipped to subzero readings, and a big storm to the south is set to bring additional snow showers. The snowfall will be heaviest in southeast Minnesota, possibly affecting the Twin Cities area. Winds are expected to increase and temperatures to fall, with high temperatures struggling to reach zero by Sunday. Overnight lows are predicted to be well below zero by Saturday and Sunday, with wind chills as low as 40 below zero in western Minnesota.
