Winter storm road conditions in Portland metro area

U.S. 26 was completely shut down on Saturday due to fallen power lines on the road. This resulted from severe winter conditions in the Portland area, which brought snow, ice, high winds, and falling trees. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) also closed Highway 101 in both directions due to hazardous conditions caused by freezing rain. The winter weather in northern Oregon has made road conditions challenging, even at lower elevations. ODOT advised people to reschedule their travel plans and warned of potential slides, rock falls, and downed trees due to freezing temperatures, heavy precipitation, and wind.
