Winter storm brings snow to southern Minnesota; brutal cold follows

A significant winter storm is impacting southern Minnesota, forecasted to bring heavy snowfall and bitter cold temperatures. The snow is expected to continue into Friday night and slowly decrease on Saturday, with heaviest snowfall in southeastern Minnesota. Along with the snow, the wind will increase, leading to blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility, creating blizzard conditions in southwestern Minnesota. As the storm passes, it will leave behind the coldest air of the season, with high temperatures struggling to rise above zero by Sunday. Wind chills are expected to reach as low as 40 below zero.
