Where to recycle Christmas trees, decorations around Houston this month – Houston Public Media
The City of Houston is encouraging residents to recycle their live Christmas trees instead of disposing them in the landfill. Trees can be dropped off at 23 recycling locations across Houston or through the city’s yard waste curbside collection program until January 26. Recycled trees will be turned into mulch or organic material for landscaping and gardening. Before recycling, decorations such as lights, ornaments, and tree stands need to be removed. The city is aiming to collect 1,500 tons of trees this year, up from 1,000 tons collected last year.
