What Mercedes’ W14 errors tell us about its 2024 F1 car changes

The Mercedes Formula 1 team will be making several changes to their car for the upcoming season, which include a new chassis, front and rear suspension, gearbox, and revised aerodynamics and sidepods. According to the team’s technical director, James Allison, they had previously put the emphasis on the wrong areas of the car, such as ride height. The team also suffered from issues with the car’s ride height, which led to the car experiencing problems with bouncing. To tackle this issue, Mercedes decided to chase downforce higher up, a move that Allison admitted was too cautious. For 2024, the team plans to achieve the perfect aero platform for its W15 car.
