Embattled New York Republican Rep. George Santos is facing a potential third expulsion vote after being found to misuse campaign funds and break federal laws. Santos has previously admitted to lying about his background, and 13 charges have been filed against him by federal prosecutors, including wire fraud and money laundering. The House Ethics Committee has released a report stating there is “substantial evidence that Representative Santos violated federal criminal laws”. Two of Santos’ campaign staffers have pleaded guilty to criminal charges. Santos has announced he will not seek reelection in 2024.
