Warning issued for Grand Forks region as Blizzard Andy moves in – Grand Forks Herald

A blizzard hit the Grand Forks region on January 13, bringing hazardous winter weather including whiteout conditions and wind chills as low as 60 degrees below zero. The warning lasted until 6 pm the same day but a winter weather advisory and a wind chill advisory were still in place. Meteorologist Robert Poynter said that even as the blizzard warning expired, conditions would not improve quickly, with dangerous wind chill and reduced visibility due to blowing snow. No-travel advisories remained in effect for northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. The Herald named the storm Blizzard Andy, after UND President Andrew Armacost.
