US funds for Ukraine’s Russia defense nearly gone, White House warns

The United States is running out of time and money to help Ukraine in its war against Russia, according to White House officials. President Joe Biden’s administration had previously asked Congress for nearly $106 billion for plans for Ukraine, Israel, and U.S. border security, which was rejected by Republicans who control the House. Congressional inaction could lead to a lack of resources for more weapons and equipment for Ukraine. Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, Congress has approved more than $110 billion for Ukraine, but no funds have been approved since Republicans took over the House. Political discussions regarding U.S. border security funding, which Republicans want to link to Ukraine funding, have stalled in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
