UPenn loses $100m donation after House antisemitism testimony

A major donor to the University of Pennsylvania, Ross Stevens, has withdrawn a $100m grant after a controversial congress appearance by the university’s president, Elizabeth Magill. Stevens was “appalled” that Magill avoided questions about the punishment for students promoting genocide of Jews. The incident has led to calls for her resignation and increased scrutiny by both the House Committee on Education & the Workforce (who will formally investigate “rampant antisemitism” at several institutions) and the Department of Education (investigating alleged incidents of antisemitism and Islamophobia). There have been rising incidents of antisemitism on US campuses since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted.
