U.S military grounds entire fleet of Osprey aircraft following deadly crash : NPR
The U.S. military has grounded all Osprey V-22 helicopters following a crash off the coast of Japan which resulted in the deaths of eight Air Force Special Operations Command service members. The decision was made after a preliminary investigation suggested a material failure, not crew error, was responsible for the crash. This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of the Osprey, which has been involved in several fatal accidents since its introduction. The grounding will remain in place until the investigation has determined the cause of the crash and recommended actions for the fleet’s return to operations.
