Tyler Goodson of ‘S-Town’ Podcast Is Shot Dead in Police Standoff
Tyler Goodson, prominent figure from the hit podcast series “S-Town,” died after being shot during a police standoff in Woodstock, Alabama. The police responded to a call after midnight and found Goodson had barricaded himself inside a home, during which he allegedly brandished a gun at officers. It is currently unclear who shot Goodson, and the incident is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. “S-Town,” created by the producers of “This American Life” and Serial Productions, was an instant hit when it was released in 2017, garnering 16 million downloads in its first week and later winning a Peabody Award. Goodson was a key character in the series and had a close relationship with the central figure of the podcast, John B. McLemore.
