Two possibly killed in storms caused by atmospheric river in north-west US | US weather

The US north-west is experiencing major flooding due to an atmospheric river, resulting in dangerously high river levels and possible deaths. The rainfall, up to 8 inches, has helped alleviate the drought conditions in Washington and Oregon, but these states are still facing severe or moderate drought. There are concerns about the continuation of heavy rain for another 24 to 36 hours in these states and north California. This severe weather has caused road and rail closures and put the wastewater and stormwater systems under stress. Rescue efforts have been suspended due to the dangerous conditions.
