In an interview published by Russian outlet Izvestia, Carlson confirmed his visit to Russia but remained vague on whether he would be interviewing Vladimir Putin. He also mentioned Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), where the video of this interview will be published. Musk has promised not to suppress the interview, contrasting this with Western governments and platforms which, Carlson claims, would attempt to censor it. The last American journalist to interview Putin was NBC’s Keir Simmons in June 2021.
