Trump’s Expert Witness Trashes NY’s ‘Absurd’ Fraud Case in Court Clash
NYU accounting professor Eli Bartov, testifying in Donald Trump’s defense in his civil fraud trial, has praised the former president’s financial records and called the lawsuit “absurd”. Bartov, who is reportedly being paid $1,350 an hour, argued that Trump’s increased asset valuations from 2011 to 2021 were based in reality and that lenders like Deutsche Bank conduct their own risk assessments. New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that Trump exaggerated his asset values to secure better bank interest rates. The professor asserts that any lending decisions would not have been based solely on Trump’s financial statements. Bartov will undergo cross-examination on Friday.
