Tropical storm-like wind, rain, flooding

A storm system developing in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring tropical storm-like conditions to Florida this weekend, including wind, heavy rain, localized flooding, and coastal concerns. Governor Ron DeSantis has activated the Florida State Guard in preparation for the severe weather. The storms are expected to start on Saturday evening and continue through till about 6 a.m. Sunday. Central Florida is under a level 2 out of 5 severe weather threat, with the possibility of tornadoes. Coastal threats include a high surf advisory, a coastal flood warning, and life-threatening rip currents.
