Tree hit by lightning strike shatters onto man’s car, narrowly missing driver

An Australian man named Simon Somervail narrowly avoided death when a tree was struck by lightning next to his parked car, causing large branches to crash onto his vehicle. The incident took place on a quiet residential street in Mudgee, central New South Wales. Dash camera footage showed Somervail quickly placing his purchases in his car, before rushing back into a local convenience store to retrieve his forgotten wallet. Seconds later, the tree was struck by lightning, causing it to explode and send debris crashing onto the car. Somervail expressed gratitude for forgetting his wallet, stating that he could have been severely injured if he had been in the car at the time.
