Threats made to American school buildings deemed not credible, says FBI

A series of threatening emails were allegedly sent by a Russian terrorist organization to schools across Ohio, leading to heightened security measures and notices sent out to families. Districts including Berea, Akron, Amherst, and Cuyahoga Falls have confirmed receipt of the threats, which the FBI and Cleveland Joint Terrorism Task Force have deemed non-credible. Although no threats were received by Avon City Schools, extra police presence will be a precautionary measure in all buildings. The Ohio School Public Relations Association (OHSPRA) stated that these “swatting” emails are similar to incidents reported in Texas, which were also found to be non-credible.
