The future success of the NASCAR Clash may lie outside L.A.

The concept of building a ¼-mile asphalt track inside a sports coliseum for NASCAR’s preseason exhibition race was initially received with skepticism, however, the event in Los Angeles garnered higher TV ratings and attendance in its first two years compared to when it was held at Daytona. Despite a last-minute schedule change due to predicted severe weather, NASCAR successfully completed both the main race, won by Denny Hamlin, and the companion NASCAR Mexico event. Many drivers, including Kyle Larson and Joey Logano, praised NASCAR’s ability to adapt and successfully execute the event, suggesting the concept could be expanded to different states or countries. Despite the success of the event, NASCAR officials have not committed to its future in Los Angeles.
