The Fort Bend Economic Development Council could dissolve. If it does, new committee would reflect community, officials say – Houston Public Media

Fort Bend County is planning to form a committee to re-imagine the Fort Bend Economic Development Council, which could dissolve soon. The council’s staff has already been given severance and their last day will be January 31st. Following a public hearing, it was proposed that the new committee should include representatives from the county, major employers, chambers of commerce, and the economic development sector. The council, a public-private partnership that has operated for nearly 40 years, has enlisted the help of consulting firm TIP Strategies to prepare an economic development plan. The firm recommended a full replacement of the council’s staff and board.
