The chef who revitalized Lubbock while building on his family’s legacy

Chef Cameron West, a Texas Tech grad, and grandson of Lubbock’s former mayor, has been instrumental in rejuvenating the city’s culinary scene. After training at the Culinary Institute of America, The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, and under famous chefs in Fort Worth and Dallas, he returned to his hometown of Lubbock to start a restaurant renaissance. Today, Cameron and his wife Rachel operate four critically acclaimed restaurants, including The West Table and Dirk’s Chicken. He believes that his success lies in the city’s readiness for a new culinary experience, and is proud to be part of Lubbock’s community, participating in charity events and contributing to local development. Cameron’s restaurants not only attract locals but also out-of-towners visiting for Texas Tech football games or on their way to New Mexico.
