Texas must remove floating Rio Grande border barrier, federal appeals court rules
A federal appeals court has ruled that Texas must move a floating barrier on the Rio Grande, which was aimed at stopping migrants from entering the U.S. illegally. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered Texas to stop work on the roughly 1,000-foot barrier and move it to the riverbank. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has critiqued the ruling and stated that the state will seek a rehearing from the court. The Biden administration had sued Texas over the barrier, which is between the Texas border city of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, due to concerns about the threat to navigation and federal government operations on the Rio Grande.
