Texas judge allows abortion in Cox case as AG Paxton threatens legal action

A Texas judge has ruled in favor of allowing a pregnant woman to have an abortion, in a rare case since Roe v. Wade was overturned. The woman, Kate Cox, is 20 weeks pregnant and sought a court order for the procedure after learning her fetus had Trisomy 18, a genetic condition considered incompatible with life. Cox’s doctor warned that carrying the pregnancy to term could risk her health and future fertility. The judge stated that Cox’s life, health, and fertility were at risk, however, Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, threatened legal action if the abortion takes place.
