Testimony, closing arguments conclude in manslaughter trial of Michigan school shooter’s mother

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of Ethan Crumbley, the Michigan school shooter, is currently on trial for four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors claim she didn’t do enough to prevent the tragedy, citing the teenager’s violent drawing and text messages she sent to her husband expressing concern about their son’s mental state. Both Jennifer and her husband, James Crumbley, are accused of making a gun accessible to their son and failing to address his mental health issues. If convicted, they will be the first parents in the U.S. to be held responsible for their child’s mass school shooting. Ethan Crumbley is currently serving a life sentence for the Oxford High School shooting that killed four students.
