Suspect in Gilgo Beach murders expected to face fourth murder charge

Rex Heuermann, a suspect in serial murders at Gilgo Beach, is expected to be charged with fourth-degree murder, according to sources close to the investigation. Heuermann, who was already charged with three murders that took place on Long Island’s Gilgo Beach in 2010, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. The victims, known as the “Gilgo 4”, were found wrapped in burlap and bound with straps or tape. Heuermann is also suspected in the disappearance and murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, whose remains were also found at Gilgo Beach. A trial is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
