Actress Susan Sarandon has apologized for a statement she made at a November 17 pro-Palestine rally in New York City, claiming that Jewish people are ‘getting a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim’ amid the conflict with Hamas. Critics condemned her statement for undermining the historical and ongoing persecution of Jewish people. Following her comments, Sarandon was dropped by her Hollywood representative, United Talent Agency, which is run by Jewish CEO Jeremy Zimmer. Sarandon referred to her remarks as a ‘terrible mistake’ and expressed regret for diminishing the reality of Jewish persecution.
