Colerain High School Teacher Suffers Severe Brain Injury in Student Assault

A teacher at Colerain High School suffered a severe brain injury following an assault by a 15-year-old student, Colerain police report. The unnamed teacher was reportedly assaulted on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, the 60-year-old teacher is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries at UC Medical Center. The student allegedly responsible for the assault has been apprehended and charged with felonious assault.

Investigative reports reveal that prior to the assault, the student ingested an unknown drug which led to distraught behavior in the classroom. Police allege that the student punched the teacher in the head, causing her injuries that need extensive medical treatment.

The student is also accused of injuring another 15-year-old student by grabbing his neck. He was reportedly hallucinating, suffering from a self-inflicted head injury after the incident and was taken to a local hospital before being taken into police custody.

Northwest Local Schools has refused to comment on the incident but released a joint statement with Colerain police, ensuring the school community that the incident is isolated and there is no current threat. The school district remains committed to providing a safe environment for their students and staff. Counselors have been made available to those emotionally impacted by the incident and support will continue to be provided as needed.
