Speaker Johnson says he believes he has the votes for a Biden impeachment inquiry

House Speaker Mike Johnson claims Republicans have enough votes to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden mainly over his and his son’s foreign business dealings. Johnson argues that this action isn’t a partisan political tool, referring to the allegations of the White House ‘stonewalling’ their investigation. He believes that a formal impeachment inquiry vote would help to overcome the White House’s alleged stalling tactics. However, so far, Republicans haven’t been able to formalize their impeachment inquiry. House GOP conference chair Elise Stefanik advocates for a deposition rather than an open hearing for Hunter Biden.
