Alan Filion, a teen from Lancaster, California, is facing charges for making hundreds of fake emergency calls, also known as “swatting,” throughout the U.S. He is specifically charged for a swatting incident at a mosque in Florida. Swatting involves reporting a false violent crime to the police to lure them to a location. Filion is accused of threatening a mass shooting, claiming he possessed a handgun and explosives. The teen also allegedly targeted high schools, historically Black colleges, FBI offices and agents, and threatened to bomb military bases and the Pentagon.
