Snow, sub-zero temperatures in US forecast

A powerful winter storm sweeping across the US is causing weather advisories to be issued in most parts of the country. The storm is bringing freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, grounding flights, and closing schools. In the Midwest and Plains, temperatures may drop as low as minus 40, with wind chills potentially causing frostbite in minutes. Meanwhile, in the Southeast, wind gusts pose a risk of tornadoes, particularly along the Gulf Coast. There are fears of heavy rain in the Northeast, while the Pacific Northwest is also being hit with Arctic air and gusty winds.
