Snow removal inconveniences my neighbors

The article is an etiquette advice column, covering two issues. The first concerns a couple in the North-eastern US, who regularly clear snow for their neighbors, recent immigrants from warm climates. The neighbors respond by feeding the couple and sending them home with extra food. The couple, who enjoy helping the elderly couple and spending time with them, wish to communicate that they don’t expect any form of ‘refund’ for their assistance. Miss Manners advises them to accept the food as a kind gesture, similar to their own. The second issue involves a woman who is trying to encourage guests to use paper towels, rather than bath towels, in her guest bathroom. Miss Manners suggests that this is a widespread problem and offers some slightly tongue-in-cheek advice.
