‘SNL’ mocks university presidents’ antisemitism hearing in cold open

“Saturday Night Live” (SNL) satirized a recent congressional hearing on antisemitism on college campuses. The skit featured actors portraying the University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University presidents, who were asked by a character playing Congresswoman Elise Stefanik about their institutions’ responses to antisemitism, particularly following the Israel-Hamas conflict. The skit also referenced the backlash faced by the university presidents for their comments on whether calls for Jewish genocide would be considered harassment, which led to the resignation of the University of Pennsylvania president, Elizabeth Magill. Stefanik had previously criticized the university leaders for their lack of moral clarity.
