Sleet and snow in Alabama

Alabama is bracing for its first significant winter storm of the year, with forecasts predicting heavy snow, ice, and dangerously cold weather. The week is likely to be one of the coldest in the past 50 years for North Alabama, with temperatures predicted to fall 20 to 30 degrees below average due to an incoming Arctic blast. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday have been designated Impact Days, with the threat of dangerous wind chills, extremely low temperatures, and wintry weather from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. In the Birmingham area, rain is expected to turn to sleet and snow, leading to potentially impactful accumulations. Northern parts of the state could see 1 to 3 inches of snowfall.
