Silicon Valley congressman brings ‘a changing of the old guard’
Rep. Ro Khanna, representative of the 17th congressional district in Silicon Valley, is emerging as a new generation leader in California, pushing for tech innovation alongside progressive policies. Khanna’s district, one of the wealthiest in the country, generates an estimated $10 trillion in wealth; it houses tech giants including Apple, Nvidia, Intel, and LinkedIn. Thus far, Khanna has secured the largest national investment in science funding since the 1960s, co-authored the Endless Frontier Act, and spearheaded public-private partnerships for financial assistance and skills training. He is also working on legislation to incentivize tech companies to use AI to enhance worker productivity, rather than replace workers. Furthermore, Khanna is advocating for free community college, Medicare for all, subsidized housing, and a national living wage.
