Severe weather looms in Texas ahead of rainy Mardi Gras parades

A storm system that drenched the Pacific Northwest and California has moved to the Southeast, causing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Areas of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi are at an increased risk for excessive rainfall and flooding. This weather has affected ongoing Mardi Gras celebrations, forcing parades to adjust their schedules. Forecast models predict 1-2 inches of rainfall across the South with some areas possibly receiving up to 3-4 inches. Two tornadoes were spotted in Texas, resulting in no reported widespread damage or injuries.
