SEPTA releases final draft of its bus system redesign

SEPTA has drafted a final redesign for its bus system to enhance service reliability. The updated plan includes 106 routes, reduced from 125, with more frequent bus services and on-demand offerings. The overhaul would make bus services available to one million more people than the current system, and aims to put 1.1 million Philadelphians within ten minutes’ walk of a frequent bus route. The SEPTA board will vote on the proposal on December 21, and if approved, changes will take effect in summer. SEPTA’s six suburban zones will also see the launch of an on-demand bus service.
