Senate GOP set to block border deal but may back Ukraine, Israel aid

Senate Republicans are planning to block a national security and border reform package that includes aid for Ukraine and Israel, following criticism from former President Donald Trump. The bill includes over $60 billion in aid for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia and $14 billion for Israel, as well as other significant funds for humanitarian aid and Indo-Pacific allies. This comes after support for the bill rapidly collapsed after Trump’s opposition and increasing negative sentiment among Republicans who viewed the bill as being too lenient on border reform. If the bill fails, lawmakers will vote on a revised version without the border reforms.
