Sarasota School Board votes to urge Bridget Ziegler to resign
The Sarasota County School Board has formally called for Bridget Ziegler to resign amidst a sex scandal involving her husband, Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler. The board, however, cannot force her to resign, as it can only be done voluntarily or by suspension from the governor. Bridget Ziegler has served on the board for nearly a decade and has been influential in the conservative education movement in Florida. The Zieglers are caught up in a scandal where a woman alleges that Christian Ziegler raped her; no charges have been filed yet. Despite the scandal, Bridget Ziegler continues to serve on other public boards and participate in meetings.
