San Antonio City Council approves code of conduct, but not without debate | San Antonio

The San Antonio City Council has voted 8-2 in favor of a new code of conduct following several embarrassing incidents involving council members. The four-page code outlines behavioral rules similar to those for other city employees, and calls for the disclosure of romantic relationships with staff. However, some council members expressed concern that vaguely worded stipulations could be used to punish unpopular views. District 5’s Teri Castillo and District 2’s Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, the council’s most progressive members, voted against adopting the code. Despite the approval, the code does not cover crimes such as driving under the influence (DUIs).
