Sailor arrives in Hawaii a day after US Coast Guard seeks public’s help finding him
A 60-year-old man, Noel Rubio, sailing from California to Hawaii has arrived safely after the U.S Coast Guard sought public help in his search. He was sailing a 32-foot sailboat Malulani and was last heard from near Catalina Island in California. He departed from Long Beach on December 28, planning to land in Kaneohe on the island of Oahu three weeks later. Despite efforts by the Coast Guard searching harbors in California, Hawaii, and Mexico, Rubio was not found up until his arrival. His only communication device on board was a VHF-FM marine band radio.
