S.C. father, stepmother arrested in 1989 killing of 5-year-old boy
The father and stepmother of a South Carolina boy, missing since 1989, have been arrested on murder charges. Victor Lee Turner, 69, and Megan R. Turner, 63, were taken into custody at their residence in Cross Hill. The body of the 5-year-old, Justin Turner, was found asphyxiated in a camper near the couple’s home. The case was reopened in 2021, and advancements in DNA and forensic evidence technology helped investigators link a ligature to a shirt collar the victim was wearing. The suspects had previously shown little interest in the investigation, which was seen as suspicious by authorities.
