Rose Parade rolls through Pasadena as world celebrates New Year’s Day 2024
The 135th Rose Parade was held in Pasadena, California, bringing together thousands of spectators despite a chilly morning. The theme this year was “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language”. Donna Patton, a 58-year-old youth pastor, travelled from Colorado to witness the parade for the first time. The parade was described as a cheerful respite from the pains of the past, and an opportunity to come together as a community. Despite some disruptions including a woman arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and demonstrators holding signs that read, “CEASEFIRE” and “Freedom & Justice For Palestine”, the Rose Parade marched on without significant disruption.
