Rochester crash and explosion appear intentional; no link to terrorism

A fatal crash and explosion that occurred after a concert on New Year’s Day in Rochester, New York, was intentional, according to the police. The driver, Michael Avery, who caused the crash by driving into a crowd of pedestrians, died later in hospital. The crash involved a Ford Expedition SUV hitting two other vehicles and pedestrians, causing a fire which took almost an hour to put out. Two adults in one of the cars, Justina Hughes and Joshua Orr, were pronounced dead at the scene and several pedestrians were injured. Despite the intentional nature of the crash, the FBI has not linked it to any domestic or international terrorist plot.
