The village cannot afford the $250,000 repair cost and neither can the city of Chicago as the leak is outside its jurisdiction. The Cook County Bureau of Administration has hired a contractor to fix the leak, but a timeline for repairs is still undecided. The noise of the pump and other damage caused by the flooding, including rot to the house’s fence and a decrease in water pressure, are causing ongoing issues for the couple.
