Republicans to blur faces in January 6 footage as ‘we don’t want them charged’ | Mike Johnson

House Speaker Mike Johnson has announced plans to blur the identities of individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riot in new footage to be released, in order to prevent the DoJ from retaliation. Johnson’s office later confirmed that the Justice Department already has access to the surveillance video. More than 1,200 people have been charged and over 400 have been incarcerated in connection with the events of January 6. Johnson intends to release a curated 90-hour segment of security footage to the public to allow Americans to form their own conclusions about the Capitol attack. The announcement comes as Colorado’s highest court is set to hear arguments on whether former President Trump incited the insurrection.
