Reporter sues Kansas town and various officials over police raid on her newspaper

The former editor of a Kansas newspaper, Susan Zorn, is suing after an investigative raid from the local police chief; the lawsuit alleges that former police chief Clinton Cody was retaliating against Zorn for her newspaper’s investigation into his background. Cody resigned in October following the raid, which has sparked debates over press freedom and potentially violated state or federal law. This is the second lawsuit in relation to the raid, with a former reporter having previously sued Cody. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are both involved in the case, but their findings have not been publicly released. Zorn’s lawsuit also alleges that the stress from the raid led to a return of her seizures.
