Rain-snow line location continues to solidify with Tuesday storm

The position of the rain-snow line can help predict the outcome of the upcoming Tuesday/Wednesday storm system. Two main weather models, the European Model and the U.S. Model (GFS), agree on the positioning of this line, which divides regions that will experience snow from those that will see rain. The GFS model is slightly warmer, predicting that the rain-snow line will be positioned further north. This means cities like Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland will see the snow turn to rain on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ludington, Manistee, Cadillac, Traverse City, Houghton Lake and West Branch are expected to see snowfall.
