Rachel McAdams on Receiving “Play-Length Notes” From Judy Blume – The Hollywood Reporter

Hollywood has begun adapting Judy Blume novels into film, despite the author’s previous reluctance to sell the rights to her work. Her young adult novel “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” has been adapted into a movie starring Rachel McAdams and newcomer Abby Ryder Fortson. The film’s director, Kelly Fremon Craig, even flew to Florida to meet with Blume and discuss the project. The plot follows the protagonist, Margaret, and her family as they adjust to life in suburban New Jersey after moving from New York City. Blume provided extensive feedback and notes to help guide the adaptation process.
