Quaker Oats recalls granola over salmonella contamination
Quaker Oats has issued a recall of various granola products, such as granola bars and cereals, due to potential salmonella contamination. The company, owned by PepsiCo, has not received any reports of salmonella-related illnesses but has sold the affected products in all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories. Customers are asked to discard the recalled products and contact Quaker for information and reimbursement. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and in rare cases, can be fatal. In a separate issue, nationwide recalls of cantaloupe due to salmonella have been expanded as over 200 people across 38 states have fallen ill.
